Technical Issues
Most issues are the result of incompatible
browsers or poor connections to the Internet.
Try clicking on your "Refresh" or
"Reload" buttons if a page doesn't
fully load or appears blank with the word
"Done" in the lower-left gray corner.
Then install the latest Internet browser on your
computer.
Trusted Sites
If you are experiencing difficulty logging in to
SiebertNet from the home page at www.siebertnet.com,
you may be able to resolve the issue by adding
our login page as a trusted site to your
browser. Please follow these directions:
Internet Explorer
1. Click on Tools at the top.
2. Click on Internet Options.
3. Click on the Security tab at the top.
4. Click on Trusted Sites at the top.
5. Click on the Sites button.
6. Type in: https://*.siebertnet.com.
7. Click on Add button on the right.
8. Type in: https://*.mystreetscape.com.
9. Click on Add button on the right.
10. Click on Close on the bottom.
11. Click on OK on the bottom.
Firefox
1. From the top menu on Firefox Browser, click
Tools.
2. Click on Options.
3. Click on Privacy at the top of window.
4. Under the Cookies section, Click on the
Exceptions Button.
5. Type in: https://*.siebertnet.com
6. Click on the Allow button.
7. Type in: https://*.mystreetscape.com
8. Click on the Allow button.
9. Click on the Close Button at the bottom.
10. Click on the OK Button at the bottom.
Netscape
1. From the top menu on Netscape Browser,
Click Tools.
2. Click on Options.
3. Click on Site Controls at the Security and
Privacy section.
4. Click on the Add Site Button.
5. Type in: https://*.siebertnet.com
6. Select the Initial Trust Settings pulldown
and select the "I Trust This Site."
7. Click on the Add Site Button.
8. Type in: https://*.mystreetscape.com
9. Select the Initial Trust Settings pulldown
and select the "I Trust This Site."
10. Click on the Add Site Button.
11. Click on the OK Button at the bottom.
Login Issues
If you are experiencing difficulty logging in to
SiebertNet from the home page at www.siebertnet.com,
you may be able to resolve the issue by clearing
your cache. Please follow these directions:
Internet Explorer 7.x
1. Select Internet Options from the Tools pull-down menu.
2. Click the General Tab.
- On the middle of this page is the Browsing history section.
- Click the Delete Button.
3. You will then be prompted by the dialog
box, Delete files...
- In this dialog box, click Delete all files in the Temporary
Internet Files folder.
- Click the OK button.
Internet Explorer 5.5 and 6.x
1. Select Internet Options from the Tools
pull-down menu.
2. Click the General tab.
- On the middle of this page is the
Temporary Internet Files section.
- Click the Delete... button.
3. You will then be prompted by the dialog
box, Delete files...
- In this dialog box, you are asked if you
wish to Delete all files in the Temporary
Internet Files folder.
- Click the OK button.
Firefox 1.5.x
1. From the main menu, select Tools, then
select Options.
2. In the Options menu, select Privacy, then
select Cache.
3. Click Clear Cache Now.
Netscape 7.1
1. From the main menu select Edit, then select
Preferences.
2. On the Preference dialog box, open
Advanced.
3. Under the Advanced option select Cache.
- Click the Clear Memory Cache button.
- Click the Clear Disk Cache button.
- Click the OK button to continue.
- The value for Compare the page in the
cache to the page on network should be
set to "Every time I view the
page."
4. Click the OK button.
If you are using a Mac
1. Click "Clear Disk Cache Now."
2. Click "OK."
3. Click "OK" again to close.

Compatible
Browsers
We recommend Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher
(See note below for IE 7.x). Be certain to
choose the 128-bit encryption version. Firefox
may also be used. For Mac OS X, we recommend the
Firefox browser. Siebert continues to test newly
released browsers for compatibility. Currently,
the Safari browser is not compatible with
SiebertNet. You can check back occasionally to
this page to see if the recommended browsers
have changed.
AOL users: If you are accessing
the Internet through AOL, we recommend that you
use either Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or
Netscape after establishing your Internet
connection through AOL. Click
here for links to download browsers.
Browser version: You can
check which version you have by clicking on the
word "Help" at the very top of your
browser then choosing either "About
Internet Explorer," "About Mozilla
Firefox" or "About Netscape
Browser." Immediately after the name of
your browser will be the version number.
Updating to Microsoft Internet Explorer
7:
In order to utilize Siebert's trading site and
the SiebertNet demo with Microsoft Explorer IE
7.x, it is necessary to reconfigure Internet
privacy settings as follows:
1. Upgrade to IE 7.
2. Click Tools, Internet Options and
Privacy tab.
3. Slide the bar down to Medium.
4. Click apply.
5. Click Ok.
Using
Microsoft Windows XP with SiebertNet
As shipped, Windows XP software does not contain
Microsoft Virtual Machine which is required to
run Java language programs. In order to fully
utilize SiebertNet features, please take the
following simple steps:
1. Go to http://web.iress.com.au/info/JavaVM.htm.
Click on the word "Download" for
Microsoft java VM 3805.
2. A dialog box will appear asking: "Would
you like to open the file or save it to your
computer?" Choose: "Open." Follow
the download/installation instructions.
3. Once it is finished, restart the computer.
SmartMoney
Retirement Center Java Applets
If you are having trouble viewing the
worksheets, calculators and other applets, it is
possible that you have not enabled Java. Please
follow the below instructions, or use the form
at the bottom of this page to email us.
Netscape 4.x, 5.x, and 6.x for PC:
1. From the Edit menu, select Preferences.
2. In the left pane, select Advanced.
3. In the right pane, check the Enable Java and
Enable JavaScript options.
4. Click OK.
Internet Explorer 6.x and 7.x for PC:
1. From the Tools menu bar, select Internet
Options and then click the Security tab.
2. Click the Internet icon to select a Web
content zone.
3. Next, click Custom Level and in the Security
Settings window, scroll down to the Java
category.
4. In Java permissions uncheck Disable Java and
check either High, Low or Medium Safety.
5. Next, scroll down to the Scripting category.
6. Select Enable in Active Scripting and in
Scripting of Java Applets.
7. Click OK.
8. In the Internet Options window, click Apply
and then OK.
